Who we are

Solei is operated by Niki Leskinen, Finland. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. For any privacy question, contact us at [email protected]. A postal address is available on request.

What we collect

• Account. When you sign in with Apple, Apple gives us a unique identifier for you and, if you choose to share them, your name and an email address (which may be Apple’s private relay address). If you instead sign in with an email link, we collect the email address you enter. We use these to create and secure your account.
• Location. If you grant permission, the app uses your device location to find sunny places near you. Your coordinates are sent to our server to run that search; we do not build a location history or use it to track you.
• Saved places. The terraces, parks, and beaches you save are stored with your account so they sync across your devices.
• Security and device logs. When you sign in, sign out, or hit a rate limit, we automatically record the event together with your IP address and browser/device user-agent. We use these short-lived logs to secure your account and prevent abuse.

Why we use it (legal bases)

We use your data only to run the app: signing you in, finding nearby sunny places, and syncing your saved list. The legal basis for handling your account, location search, and saved places is performance of our agreement with you (and, for location, the permission you grant on your device). The legal basis for the security and device logs is our legitimate interest in keeping Solei secure and preventing abuse. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Cookies

Solei uses only strictly necessary, first-party cookies: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a short-lived cookie used during Sign in with Apple to protect the sign-in flow. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies and we set no third-party tracking cookies, so Solei does not show a cookie-consent banner — these essential cookies are exempt from consent.

Who we share it with

We rely on a few service providers (processors) to operate Solei: Apple (Sign in with Apple), Cloudflare (content delivery and security), our cloud hosting and database provider, and — if you use email sign-in — Resend (email delivery). Venue information shown in the app comes from public and third-party sources and is not derived from your personal data. Some of these providers may process data outside the EU/EEA; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. We share your data with no one else.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account data and saved places until you delete your account. Security and device logs (including IP addresses) are deleted automatically after 30 days. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days, and email sign-in links expire within minutes. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Account → Delete account in the app. Deletion is permanent.

Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to restrict or object to certain processing. You can delete your account and data yourself in the app, or email [email protected] for any other request. If you believe we have mishandled your data, you may lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto, tietosuoja.fi) or your local supervisory authority.

Children

Solei is not directed at children and is intended for users aged 13 or older (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age.
